Aseuraica is the most populous continent on Erathas and has dominated Erathian history for most of mortal existence. The many diverse cultures, religions, and peoples on the continent have come together or fought against each other numerous times.
The Continent of Origin, thought to be shrouded within the mist of the southeastern Southern Ocean was where the Creator, the Father, created the sophont mortal species known today (high elves, mer, high orcs, dwarves, sarpa, and humans). Upon Aseuraica the Father created several bestial sophonts (wulvers, vanara, felitherians, vodyanoy, elflings, bairnlings, and gnomes) known as the Mythic Species. Why did the Father decide to create new life separate from those already living on Aseuraica? Many religions say the species from the Continent of Origin are greatest.
Upon the Continent of Origin is the Golden City where pairs of each new sophont species lived under the direct guidance of the Father. One masculine and one feminine. They lived in peace and gained the love of the Mother, the one who sits beside the Father. Soon the sophonts fell into conflict and refused to heed the Father, and he saw this as a betrayal. The mother interceded and cooled the Father's anger. Instead of extinction the Father cursed each pair:
For ages did the sophont pairs wander the Continent of Origin in shame and remorse. Each pair build new cities in pale imitations of the Golden City, in their own styles. The cities were empty, its rulers monarchs of dust. Each pair died and their ashes and souls were scattered to the four corners of the world, leaving the Continent of Origin bare. These ashes and soul fragments would span the first cells of conventional evolution, giving rise to all the species that came afterwards.
The high elves and dwarves of Eldarun, the high orcs of the Potentate, the sarpa of the Nagaraj, and the mer of the Great Reef were the first of the Continent of Origin's sophonts to evolve, appearing in each of their own corners of Aseuraica. They are known as the Elder Species and outcompeted then eliminated all the Mythic Species except for elflings and bairnlings when they colonized Aseuraica. When the Elder Species were cementing their kingdoms, humans evolved. All evolved in the lands of the Zanji except for the Nordris of Norharrland who arrived from an eternally frozen continent in the northern Ice Ocean.
At first humans were hunted and enslaved by the Elder Species, but those who avoided death or capture gradually built kingdoms. The largest of these were destroyed by the Elder Species, but some endured or were made into puppets.
Since then millennia of history has shaped the Aseuraica known today. Kingdoms and Empires have risen and fallen through climate, violence, magic, or diplomacy resulting the the configuration seen below. Click below to learn more:
